The First “METU Speed Networking” Event Has Been Held!
As part of the 3-day economics conference organized by the Department of Economics to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the first “METU Speed Networking” event was held on Saturday, September 28, 2019, at the Cultural and Convention Center Foyer Area. The event was organized in collaboration with the METU Career Planning Application and Research Center (METU KPM) and the Alumni Office. This meeting, which utilized the “Speed Networking” method, brought together METU’s distinguished alumni, faculty members, and students. Coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Pınar Derin Güre from the Department of Economics, the event was facilitated by Asst. Prof. Adil Oran. Over 200 alumni, academics, and students participated. Following the opening remarks, the “Speed Networking” method—a first for METU alumni-student meetings—was introduced to the participants. Subsequently, alumni and students introduced themselves by sitting across from each other at tables set up in the foyer. Having the opportunity to meet many people in a short time, the participants continued their conversations in the cocktail area after the networking session.
This meeting format, the first of which was held in cooperation with the Department of Economics, will be implemented by METU KPM and the Alumni Office for other departments of METU in the coming months. Within the framework of METU Speed Networking events, it is planned to strengthen the alumni-student-university relationship by bringing together METU’s valuable graduates, professors, and students.
