About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate, curious, and innovative Chemical Engineer to join our forward-thinking R&D team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the development and improvement of cement and concrete products and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with a team of experienced engineers and scientists to conduct research, design experiments, analyze data, and implement innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Research and Development:
o Conduct comprehensive scientific literature reviews on the latest advancements in cement and concrete technology.
o Design, execute and report experiments using statistical tools and techniques to optimize process parameters and product formulations.
o Collaborate with team members to share expertise and knowledge.
o Write scientific articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Project Management:
o Manage R&D projects from initiation to completion, including defining project scope, developing timelines, and allocating resources.
o Monitor project progress and identify potential risks and mitigation strategies.
o Effectively manage project budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
o Prepare detailed project reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management.
• Product Development:
o Develop new cement and concrete products or formulations to meet specific customer needs and industry standards.
o Conduct product testing and evaluation to assess performance and quality.
o Collaborate with quality control and production teams to ensure smooth product commercialization.
o Maintain strong customer focus by actively seeking feedback and incorporating customer insights into product development decisions.
• Process Optimization:
o Analyze existing cement and concrete manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
o Develop and implement process optimization strategies using statistical process control (SPC) techniques to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
o Monitor and evaluate the performance of optimized processes to ensure sustained benefits.
• Technology Adoption and Implementation:
o Stay up to date with the latest technological advancements in the cement and concrete industry.
o Evaluate and implement new technologies and digital tools to improve R&D efficiency and effectiveness.
o Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of new technologies into existing systems.
o Contribute to the development of R&D project management algorithms and software to streamline processes and enhance decision-making.
• Intellectual Property:
o Identify patentable inventions and contribute to the drafting and filing of patent applications.
o Write technical reports and proposals to secure funding for research projects from internal and external sources.
Qualifications and Skills
• Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering preferred.
• Strong understanding of cement and concrete manufacturing processes, materials science, and chemical engineering principles.
• Able to use advanced statistical problem-solving tools.
• Proficiency in using statistical software (e.g., Minitab, SPSS) and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A passion for learning and a curious mindset to explore new ideas and technologies.
• Ability to write clear and concise technical reports, proposals, and scientific articles.
• Proficiency in using various software and technologies, including data analysis tools, simulation software, and laboratory equipment.
